Men's ATP 250
Tickets are now on sale for the return of top men's tennis to Mallorca. The Mallorca Championships, an official ATP 250 competition, will return to the island at the Santa Ponsa Country club in June.
The club had hosted the women's championships over the last four years and because of the splendid organisation and facilities were put in line to stage the return of the men's comp to Mallorca. In an international reorganisation, the women move to glamorous Birmingham, and the men switch from the previous venue of Antalya in Turkey to play here.
The Mallorca comp is seen as the perfect warm up for Wimbledon after Paris – a great hit out on grass in sublime weather conditions. The championships will feature 28 singles players and 16 doubles teams competing for €900,000 in prize money in front of up to 3,500 spectators at the country club.
Organised by Toni Nadal, Rafa's uncle, the comp is slowly but surely building up a strong field of players, but of course the big question on everyone's lips is 'will local boy Rafa Nadal play?' well, Nadal senior is being diplomatically cagey about his nephew, saying "It will depend on the decision that his coach (Carlos Moya) and himself take"
Tickets cost from €23 per day upwards – buy online by clicking the link The Mallorca Championships or follow on #mc2020
