Plaza de Toros
Get your computers warmed up ready to order tickets for probably Mallorca's biggest concert next year as entries to Lionel Richie's appearance in Palma go on sale this Friday 6th December. You'll have plenty of time to plan your stay as Lionel takes to the stage at Palma's Plaza de Toros bullring on Wednesday July 29th 2020.
Incredible as it may seem, Lionel is now 70 years old, and has been pumping out the hits – too many to mention, so I won't – for over 50 years. Singing professionally from 1968 with Soul and Funk band The Commodores and later going solo with a change of style to a more “Easy” listening repertoire he has garnered tons of awards and sold over 100 million records.
The full details of the concert at the bullring haven't yet been announced so as yet we don't know the start time but I reckon it won't go on “All night long” if you have to rush off to catch the last bus or train home.
As it's an open air venue the temperatures should be perfect at the end of July for a late start, but don't try “Dancing on the Ceiling” as there isn't one! When I heard about Lionel's concert I “Truly” believed it was his first appearance in Mallorca, how wrong I was “Say you, say me” as he starred in a German TV show filmed at the bullring in 2010 when he rode into the venue on a donkey.
The show's promotors, Legends VIP, have brought plenty of top acts to Mallorca over the last five years – Europe, The Jacksons, Nena, Michael Bolton etc – and this show is to celebrate their 5th anniversary. There's no price announced for the tickets as yet, though I imagine they'll be the same if you're a “Lady” or a gentleman. Click the link to purchase them.
I've seen Lionel live on stage with the Commodores in the early 70's, though I won't be able to make this occasion, so if you're there, say “Hello” to him from me!
