3000 bikers in pink
It's World Breast Cancer Day on Saturday, so as usual Mallorca's biker 'fraternity' will be organising their annual ride out to raise funds for the national Spanish Association Against Cancer charity.
Perhaps fraternity is a non gender neutral word to use in this instance because the main movers and shakers of this 4th annual charity ride are the all ladies motorcycle club Las Princesas del Asfalto.
They, along with the Balearic Motorcycling Federation are hoping to raise about €25,000 for the charity as around 3000 bikers will take part wearing the breast cancer charity's signature colour pink. There'll be scarves, t-shirts and hi-vis vests all in Barbie's favourite colour and all raising cash against cancer.
The pink river of bikes and bikers will depart from the Son Oms estate on Sunday Morning, 20th October at 10:30 and snake its way around the Mallorca passing Llucmajor, Porreres, Vilafranca, Manacor and finally Can Picafort, where they will have lunch.
Keep an eye out for them on the road if you're anywhere near the route on Sunday.
