Thursday night Jazz
Ever since 2008 the council of the little town with a big picturesque setting, Banyalbufar, perched high atop steep terraced hillsides with spectacular sea views, have been promoting a free Jazz fest in the summer. Taking place over a month, each Thursday evening is given over to a different act in either the main square of the town or in the seaside Port des Canonge, way below.
The picturesque and atmospheric settings of the concerts mean that you don't have to be a dyed in the wool Jazz fan – all berets, bongos, and goatee beards – to get a lot of pleasure from the concerts.
They all start at 20:30 and given the views to the west from both venues, the sunsets are a great addition to the shows. And as the local wine, Malvasia, will be available in vast quantities, the festival's strapline 'a place where you can wake up your senses,' really does ring true!
This year you can catch;
25th July, Julia Colom at the port
1st August, Mary Lambourne in town
8th August, Cafe 3 Trio at the port
15th August, Sheela Gathright Quartet in town.
Have a Jazzy Jueves.
