I don't normally need an excuse to go sampling lots of fine wines all in one place, but if I did, the Nit del Vi wine evening in Palma this week has a very good one. Much of the admission price will be donated to a local charity Aspas, which helps people with hearing impairment.
So, what's the Nit del Vi all about, apart from helping charity? It's a chance for the many small wine producers of Mallorca to show off their wares to the public and broaden both the knowledge and appeal of local wines.
The Petits Cellers de Mallorca (small bodegas) have once again organised this annual promotion where 35 of them will be bringing along around 200 different brews for us to sample. It takes place in the impressive surroundings of the patio of the magnificent Misericordia in Palma on 24th May.
Starting at 18:00 until 22:00 (so pace yourself) it costs a mere €15 with €5 for your glass for the evening and a donation to charity and is well worth visiting to get to know some excellent Mallorcan wines.
