Nine restaurants honoured
Mallorca leads the way in the gastronomic honours awarded to restaurants in the Balearic Islands once again. At the annual Michelin awards ceremony held in Tenerife this week Mallorca maintained every single one of its ten Michelin Stars awarded last year and is the only island in the Balearics to be given the coveted prizes.
I think every chef who has a star will tell us that it takes just as much hard work to hold on to a star as it does to gain one so the fact that all the restaurants have maintained their status is a major achievement.
As I've said many times before, the gastronomic offer of Mallorca is island wide and not Palma-centric as excellent food can be had in some of the smallest out of the way places. Just look at the Michelin list

Tomeu Caldentey at Es Moli d'en Bou restaurant in Sa Coma
Marc Fosh at Simply Fosh in Palma
Andreu Genestra at Restaurant Andreu Genestra in Capdepera
Macarena de Castro at Restaurante Jardin in Puerto Alcudia
Joseph Sauerschell at Es Racó des Teix in Deia
Rafael Sanchez at Es Fum near Puerto Portals
Fernando P. Arellano at Zaranda near Capdella who has two stars!
If you're looking for a really special treat for a special occasion why not book yourself into one of these excellent restaurants when you're in Mallorca. I normally go to Simply Fosh because I generally stay quite nearby and the food, service and surroundings are excellent and to be honest, the price is not that much more than many restaurants which for me don't rate as highly.
