Port Adriano Street Food IX

The 'Night Time' edition

One of Mallorca's most popular all singing, all dancing food festivals returns this weekend as Port Adriano throws open its designer doors to a grateful public for Street Food IX. The Calvia district's swish sports harbour, packed with gleaming yachts and cruisers, will become gastronomic heaven with added fun and music as the food trucks roll onto the central plaza.

Edition IX is the night time version of the festival, taking place on the 8th, 9th and 10th September and open from 19:00 to 02:00 on Friday and Saturday and 19:00 until midnight on Sunday. The Port's organisers have been quite selective when choosing the caravans and trucks to participate in the event and have ensured that there will be something for everybody with catering for lots of dietary requirements.

I've shamelessly copied and pasted a list of what's on offer from the Port's website, so see if any of this lot takes your fancy;

-Nomad: Chicken sticks in Japanese tempura. Gourmet Hot dog several versions including vegan…

-Corazón Natural: Organic fruit juices and smoothies, vegetarian hamburgers, tofu puppets, pizzas, empanadas and a great variety of vegetarian and vegan skewers with the official guarantee of Sa Taulera.

-El Perrito Callejero: Hot dogs, tacos, wraps, croquetas and vegan dogs.-Frapa’s: Sandwiches of thin slices of veal 100% grilled accompanied by different types of ingredients and muffin bread. Puppies with quality Frankfurt sausage with fresh ingredients. And raclette cheese in the Swiss style.-Anita Cakes: Cupcakes, cake pop, cakes, donuts, brownies, crepes and 100% natural polos.

-Il Cribbio: Piadine stuffed, pasta, fried pizza, carrot cake without gluten and pizzette dolci.

-La Tin: Skewers based on sausages and selected preserves.

-Agave Heart: Nachos with guacamole and pico de gallo and supernachos with cochinita pibil and additional cheese.

-Nomada Caravan: Veggie handmade pizzas cooked in the wood oven. Rice with curri and vegetables.

-Wanderlust: Fish & chips.

-Action Rolling: 100% beef burgers, nachos with homemade chili, potatoes with bacon and cheese, pulled pork sandwiches, BBQ.

Plenty there for me, and what a great way to eat, pick a table in the busy square, buy your food and drinks and graze away the evening. If you've got kids, there are activities for them every evening, just don't forget to pick them up at the end of the night and for we adults there's Latin music all night long – salsa, mambo and cha cha cha – and even better, Latin dance classes from the expert dancers from 10 pm when we've, ahem, lost a few of our inhibitions.

How brilliant? And even better there's no admission charge, you just pay for what you eat and drink! Oh, and how brilliant of me to get through a whole article about Port Adriano without mentioning that it was designed by Philippe Starck.
