Wine Tasting in Palma

Binissalem wines celebrate their 25th anniversary this week in Palma

25 years ago the vineyards and bodegas of the Binissalem area of Mallorca were awarded DO (denomination of origin) status and to celebrate their silver anniversary they're showing off some of their fine products in a wine tasting this week.

Six bodegas are taking part in this rather special event at the new San Juan Gastro Market in s’Escorxador, Palma. If you remember, the market is situated in Palma's old slaughterhouse, a building of great architectural, and now gastronomic, merit.

binissalem wine tasting nadal

On Thursday evening, 5th November, from 18:00 to 23:30 (pace yourselves now) you'll be able to sample some great wines from Binissalem courtesy of; Bodegas Antonio Nadal Ros (photo), Bodegas José Luis Ferrer, Bodegas Jaume de Puntiró, Celler Albaflor, Vins Nadal, Bodega Biniagual and Ca’n Verdura Viticultors.

Now if that doesn't sound good enough, then how about this? The cost of the tasting is a mere €5 for 3 glasses of wine, and some of this goes to charity to help people who don't have enough to feed themselves properly.

So, what more could we want? Eco/charity wine, a whole range of fantastic food on offer as per usual in the San Juan Market in a wonderfully emblematic building. I must admit that after having paid an average of around €10 for a glass of average wine in Manchester last week, I'm more impressed than ever with the standard and price of Mallorca food and drink!

See you there?
