New old music venue in Palma

Vamp cafe is no more, long live Molino Tres

One of Palma's most unusual music venues, for the building, not the music, is under new management and has a new name. The former Vamp Cafe on Calle Industria on the fringe of the Santa Catalina area of Palma has now seamlessly morphed into Molino Tres, dinner show and music club.

More simply known as M3, the club occupies the third windmill (molino means windmill) in a row which is still situated on the street and surrounded by modern apartment buildings. It's a symbol of Palma's past and makes the new M3 a quite unique venue to visit for a night out.

The new owners have continued the Vamp's musical policy of mostly free concerts for five nights a week, with the occasional pay per view event when special bands come to town. As you can see on the photo, the stage area is in the underground, cavern like bowels of the windmill, which provides an intimate atmosphere and is extremely reminiscent of the famous Cavern club in Liverpool.

If you fancy going along to see some live music, all the concerts normally start at 22.30 with Wednesday nights featuring a regular Jazz jam session with guest musicians and friends and Thursdays it's the turn of Blues, Soul and Funk. The other nights play host to rock, swing, pop and other different genres of music and you never know, you might just see the new Beatles playing Palma's 'Cavern' club.
