Gastro Mallorca: Tapamar II

Seafood tapas at the Palma International Boat Show

Over the last 31 years the Palma International Boat Show has grown and grown and grown. Starting today, the new edition features more boats than ever before and an enormous collection of sailing
ships thanks to the new and bigger berths at the almost ready to open leisure venue, the Moll Vell.

The show not only attracts a host of participants who make their living in the glamorous yachting world, but also large numbers of the public – 30,000 last year - who come to gaze on the
gleaming craft in the harbour and open sea beyond.

Last year a special sea themed food fest, Tapamar, took place and it's back again this year, starting today until 4th May serving up tasty treats from midday until midnight daily.

The tapas 'village' at the show consists of 18 little marquees where some of the best restaurants of the port area and beyond have set up shop ready to provide superb small dishes in a buzzing,
sociable atmosphere.

They'll be using freshly caught fish and seafood courtesy of the San Pedro Fishermen's Association in their creations based on traditional recipes, many with a modern twist. Just have a look at the
video, even if you don't understand Spanish, the language of food is absolutely international!

Both the show's organisers and the restaurant association see this as an opportunity to showcase not only Palma's excellent yachting facilities and reputation but also the fabulous food of
Mallorca, itself an increasingly big draw to tourists these days.

If you're visiting Mallorca over the next few days why not pop in to cast an envious glance over the millions of Euros' worth of nautical real estate and splash out rather less on some delicious
food and drink while you're there?
